I have a problem that I'm seeking input. I have a pressure roller in a paper document reader which runs roughly at 2,000 RPM at bursts of 1000 revolutions per cycle and always a 10 second or more pause between cycles. My current roller material is a 1-1/4" long X 3/8" diameter Delrin molded plastic roller with zero draft on a 1/8" diameter stainless steel shaft. The force applied on this roller is roughly 1 pound. My problem is squeak/squeal that seems to affect 50% of my rollers. My question is, should I consider a different material for my shaft? If so, what?
