If you don’t keep the crusher choke fed the mantle and concaves will wear to a point where the reduction profile is changed and thus causes higher power draw and lots of heat. It’s the same when a “ducktail” is formed by not coke feeding or by having too many fines in the feed. The reduction profile is the key.

This is a PXZ1500II Gyratory Crusher from a Chinese Manufacturer (similar to a Metso MKII 60" x 89"). The mantle and concave were supplied by another company.

please don't tell me that the machine was supplied by Liming Heavy Industry ? or is it Citic or Zenith, , without all the information it is extremely difficult to comment, these are all Chinese machines and while they are cost competitive ( if you can't dazzle them with brilliance , baffle them with BS ) they will all supply you with a version of the PXZ1500II Gyratory Crusher , this confuses everyone when it comes to maintenance

The majority of gyratory crushers are used as primaries, i.e. they receive the initial feed from the mine or quarry. The same type of crusher with chamber modifications is used as a secondary crusher, particularly when following a large primary crusher. The fine-reduction gyratory crusher can also be used for tertiary crushing. The cone crusher has largely replaced the gyratory for secondary and tertiary applications....

Wondering if somebody could help me.
I have experienced many problems due abnormal power draw behavior of the electric motor in a primary gyratory crusher in iron ore crushing , especially when the service life of the first row concave comes to an end. I suspect that the current eccentric throw of the mainshaft (52mm) is higher than is really necessary.
Does anybody have any literature about how to design correctly mantle and concaves for a primary gyratory crusher? Or does anybody know how to define correctly the mainshaft eccentric throw in a gyratory crusher? Or have an opinion?
